8.6.2022 Press release
Human rights and equality are core values for Paulig and are included in the company’s Sustainability Approach 2030. For the second year in a row Paulig partners with Helsinki Pride – the biggest culture and human rights event focused on the sexual and gender minorities in Finland.
Paulig Helsinki Pride

A fair and inclusive way of working is one of the three core elements in Paulig’s Sustainability Approach 2030. The company’s aim is to be a fair and inclusive partner and employer throughout the value chain.

Several steps have been taken to ensure a safe and inclusive workplace for everyone, in addition to the commitment to the Helsinki Pride partnership. In 2021, a mandatory anti-harassment training in 13 languages was launched to all Paulig employees to prevent discrimination, bullying and sexual harassment at the workplace. Employee perceptions regarding equality and diversity at Paulig are also monitored regularly through an internal engagement survey. In 2021, a significant increase of 5 points to 88/100 was seen in the already very high results regarding employee perceptions related to receiving fair treatment regardless of gender, gender identity, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation and disabilities.

“The partnership with Helsinki Pride highlights that Paulig wants to lead the way towards more equal and inclusive working life and society - not only during the Pride Week but every day. Diversity and inclusion are embedded into Paulig’s values-driven company culture and way of doing business. The work within human rights means constant development and also this year we have continued this important work. “says Anu Pires, SVP Human Resources at Paulig.

“We at Paulig believe that it is important that work for gender equality and human rights is done not only by individuals but also by organisations. The general language and communication of companies significantly influences how employees perceive the atmosphere of the organisation. The partnership with Pride Week enables discussion about human rights, creates a space for individuals to be visible and highlights Paulig’s commitment to the matter. We continue to develop our values-driven company culture to ensure that all our employees perceive Paulig as a fair and inclusive company where they feel safe to be their true self.”, says Lea Rankinen, Paulig’s Sustainability and Public Affairs Director.

The Helsinki Pride community is a non-governmental organisation that aims to eliminate inequality and promote human rights and equality regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. The theme of Helsinki Pride 2022 is “encounters”, which emphasises Helsinki Pride Week’s mission: the event makes it possible for people to encounter each other and be a part of a community. The event will this year be organised in-person with workshops, gatherings and lectures. The Finnish poet and the spouse of the president of Finland Jenni Haukio is the official patron of the event.
